Back from Flashing London

I just got back from 11 days in London. I had an awesome time!

The 3rd run of my Flash MX 2004 Enterprise Development workshop was a big success, with 9 very smart students (with some really great questions). It went really smoothly, and the feedback so far is excellent. A big thanks to all the attendees, Aral & Emilie (Bits & Pixels), Guy and everyone else who helped make it possible. I’ll post some photos and comments from the workshop in the near future.

I also did a talk on “Playing God: Simulating Nature in Flash” (or “FlashHubris 101”) at the London MMUG, alongside Mike Chambers who spoke about the future of Macromedia’s projects. You can check out some photos of the evening here, including a shot of my beautiful title screen. You can also check out a screen capture of one of the experiments I put together for the session here (zoom).

I also had a great time meeting new people and hanging out with Peter, Guy, Aral, Mike, and exploring London and area with my darling girlfriend.

  1. Sounds great! I’m very interested in your class. Could you please tell me when and where you will be conducting the next session?

  2. Ditto here. How about a session in Minneapolis. Its not too bad in terms of travelling from Ontario… I know abunch of peeps who would love to take your class.

  3. Weeeeeeeeee! Welcome back!

  4. 3rd times a charm eh?

    p.s.

Why do all americans think we all live in Ontario?

    ;P

  5. That IS a beautiful title screen, ha ha.

  6. Hey that God remembers me the great Monty Phyton film…what was the name?…mmm…Well in Spain was “Los caballeros de la mesa cuadrada”, the original title could be somthing about “…Holy Grial…”?

The screenshots looks so good Grant, sure it moves even better. Have you think about post the working example? (as you did with your other recently simulations?).

    That would be great!

  7. Re: Ontario. As an American, my experience with other Americans is: If the American is from the east coast, all Canadians are from Ontario. If the American is from the west coast, all Canadians are from B.C. Saskatchewan must be somewhere on the Indian sub-continent, and nobody’s ever heard of Alberta 😉

Hell, I wouldn’t be suprised if half of all Americans thought New Mexico was part of the “old Mexico.”

  8. Carlos – yep, that god is borrowed from “The Quest for the Holy Grail” (when in London, right?).

I’ll be posting a few more experiments in the next few days, probably including the one that generated those screenshots, though that one doesn’t move at all, its just generative (but it makes very pretty pictures). 🙂
