gProject Panel is Now Available!

We’ve got the panel packaged, the documentation finished, and the reseller system in place. I guess that means we are officially open for business with the gProject panel. Check out the gProject product page for information and pricing.

The gProject panel is a robust replacement for the (rather anaemic) project panel built into Flash MX 2004 and Flash 8 Professional. It incorporates a myriad of time-saving features in a tight, easy to use package.

We use gProject extensively in-house, and it has had a definite positive impact on our efficiency. It has also made our code and unit tests more standardized, and helped new hires get up and running more quickly. I wouldn’t have bothered spending the time to turn this into a polished product if I didn’t think it would be genuinely valuable to other Flash developers and designers – our main business is, and will remain, Flash development and consulting, not tool creation.

We worked hard to make gProject something that is useful for everyone. There are lots of advanced features for developers, but they are included in an unobtrusive manner so that they don’t complicate the interface for designers. If you just want to use gProject as a file manager and replacement for the default project panel, great! If you want to use the advanced features like class and unit test creation, UI introspection, and compile lists to enhance your development process, even better!

If you’d like more info on gProject, check out the initial blog post on it, or have a look at the gProject product page.

For anyone who is interested, I decided to go with Kagi instead of Paypal for accepting orders for a few reasons:

  1. I don’t really trust Paypal – I’ve heard and read a lot of horror stories

  2. Kagi is smaller, and offers much more personal service (including attention to fraud attempts)

  3. Kagi has been around longer

  4. I’ve had many good experiences buying Mac shareware through Kagi
