The question everyone (or at least someone) is asking: Where The Fudgesicles is GLIC? Well, it hasn’t died an untimely death, but it obviously hasn’t been released yet either.
It is getting closer. The papers are all at the lawyer, and we’re doing the final review on it. I’m not going to give a date that it will be released though, because we’ve missed a few approximate timelines by a wide margin already and I don’t want to disappoint anyone further.
The business side of things is obviously taking way longer than I expected, and I apologize to anyone who has been waiting for the components. Believe me, it’s been quite frustrating for me to have a functionally complete set of components, and not be able to sell them, but hopefully it will all work soon. These components really are awesome, and I can’t wait to see what people do with them.
More news soon (I hope!).
And no, this is not an April fools joke. 🙂
Hey, didn’t mean i that hard !
Why is this so f*** complicated to release a set of components for $ale ??? I’d needed them a quater ago , and i’d be happy to pay form them, so i’d not be ‘punished’ to use MM’s buggy ones.
greets, and hopes

Phew – it’s good to hear some GLIC news at last. Not that I don’t love the 3D work you’ve done recently, but I’ve procrastinated enough over Macromedia’s V2 components to last me a lifetime.
Please keep us all updated regularly, even if it’s only to say ‘still with the lawyers’ or ‘more news next week’ – we’d rather that than have no news at all :o)
The check’s in the mail.
I certainly will keep everyone informed from now on. I’ve been procrastinating on releasing any news because for the past couple months I’ve always thought I was a few days away from having some REAL news.
A big part of the delay is that I don’t want to turn gskinner.com into a sales/support company, so we’ve been lining up someone to market and distribute them. Then once I had narrowed it down, we got into the fun legal part of it all (which is where things are currently).
We had to play the legal game a few months ago when we needed to draw up 3 separate licence agreements for our CMS – end user, reseller and rental – so I feel your pain.
Glad to see things are really moving with GLIC!
Need some beta testers ???
I can’t wait to see what is so special about glic. For people still using V2 components, there are alternatives that have been on the market for a while now…
iS: None of the alternatives that I’m aware of include a DataGrid control, which we need in our CMS front-end.
This is great albeit frustrating news. I as is everyone else is waiting for these wonderful products, has there previously been mentioned what the pricing is going to be (roughly even)?
Obviously many will not care, and will hand over the cash regardless of price due to MM V2 components being so notoriously buggy/fussy.
Was just wanting to start putting those pennies in the piggy bank now – so what should we expect in terms of approximate cost?
It’s been a couple of weeks since this announcement, and I was just wondering what the latest GLIC status is. I know you’ve been busy at FITC and basking in the glory of your award (congrats, by the way), but if you could drop us an update I’m sure a lot of people would be grateful.
what the hell is glic?
Got an update on GLIC? I’m working on a project rapidly reaching the stage where we’ll probably have to develop our own lightweight components, and I’d really like to take a look at GLIC first.
Lawyers??
Afraid of someone finding a severed finger you your chil….er…components??

any news?
the sky is blue and the glic components will be released as soon as 8Ball comes to town. mark my words.
I can’t wait for your low-cal components. I need to go on a diet as soon as possible.
It’s almost June, and this was originally posted on April 1st. I’ve been waiting as patiently as possible, but I really need them for a project and don’t want to have to buy the Ghostwire components or something similar. Grant, when will we see these components?
lies lies lies.
lawyers my ass.
And why exactly wouldn’t you want to buy ghostwire components over vaporware?
