Sorry for harping on this, but I think it’s important. I just finished re-reading the EULA again, and ran into a possible work-around to the issue of distributing modified classes (maybe), and a host of other potential problems.

DENG officially released
DENG, the xTechnologies browser built in Flash has officially been released by my good friend Claus Wahlers, and Mozquito. Check it out, it’s inspiring.
What would you like to learn?
I’m currently working on preparing articles and conference talks, and would love to know “What would you like to learn about Flash?”. I have lots of ideas, but I’d really like to hear what you (yeah, you, the person reading this right now) wants to learn.
More EULA woes…
The issues surrounding the F04 EULA and the sharing of modified “sample code” seemed somewhat trivial at first, and I was happy to discuss the issue with Nigel and other Flashers. Recently, I recognized the major impact this will have on commercial projects, and it all became a whole lot more serious…
EULA hindrance to sharing code
Lawyers strike again: I recently completed a re-write of the EventDispatcher class, and would like to share them with the community, but I am prohibited from doing so by the EULA. I fail to see the logic in this, and would really appreciate comments or suggestions (particularly from Macromedia).
IE Active Content Changes
Information on the changes to how Internet Explorer handles active content (like Flash and Shockwave) is now available… It’s better than it could have been, but it’s still going to be a pain. Thanks Eolas! (who’s up for TPing their corporate offices?)
[code] GForm: Form class extended
Working with forms in F04Pro was more of a struggle than I expectd, partly because the current Form class lacks elements that I consider requisite for developing a clean application. These are capabilities I will need for all Form applications, so I decided to create a new class that extends the built-in mx.screens.Form class.
New Ultrashock Tutorials!
Ultrashock has just posted a set of new tutorials on FlashMX 2004 from the likes of Dave Yang, Peter Hall and Philip Kerman. My own humble contribution leads you through building an MVC application using forms, without a single line of code in the FLA! Very much worth checking out.
